I feel like I am finally in the home stretch. Yesterday marked week 35, with 35 days to go. 5 weeks still seems like a lifetime, but I know it will be here before I know it.
In retrospect I have to admit that this has been a smooth pregnancy with little complication. However, in the last week my feet have begun swelling to sizes I didn’t know were possible. Overall my joints seem to be stiff and full of fluid. I wonder if this is what people with arthritis feel? Did anyone else go through this weird joint thing? My mom did, but I always assumed that was because she was a floor nurse who worked 12 hour shifts on her feet all day. I sit in a cube. Not really an excuse for me!
At my last Dr. appt on Friday he measured my belly and said baby is definitely growing and will probably be a large baby at birth. Since I was 9lbs 3oz at birth that doesn’t surprise me (but Randy was only 5lbs 9oz!!!) My only hope for a small to normal sized baby will be if he decides to come early, which I wouldn’t mind at all!
He moves all the time (except at night, weird). My favorite part is that I can always find him. He’s getting so big that no matter where he is in my belly I can always feel a big lump of baby. For some reason I find that encouraging.
I think the best part so far is that I can still sleep through the night. If I have to roll over I wake up to do so, but fall right back asleep. Believe me…I’m enjoying every full night of sleep I have left!

I had a weird joint thing – mainly in my hands and wrists – they called it pregnancy carpal tunnel. I also had my hips fall asleep at night for the last 6 weeks and that would wake me up every half hour or so. Then my pelvic bone started hurting so bad that I would cry even trying to put pants on in the morning. It was awful towards the end! Just try to drink lots of water and take a nice walk once or twice a day – even if it’s really slow, it really seemed to help. Don’t worry – the last few weeks will fly by and then you will never remember this part. And enjoy the last few weeks of sleeping, I wasn’t even sleeping all that well, but it doesn’t even compare to the first few weeks of no sleep once the baby arrives!!! I can’t believe it’s almost time!!!
I didn’t have the joint thing but in the last two weeks my feet got so puffy and huge and you couldn’t see my ankles. At night I would come home and soak in a warm tub with my feet propped up. But trying to be ever fashionable I kept on wearing work shoes that really didn’t fit which I think made it worse. Just wear flip flops if you get to that point, no one will care!!! That is so great that you are sleeping at night and I’m glad you know what’s in store for you! 😉 I’m soooooo excited to meet Reed. We’ll have to make a trip up to SA and stay with Jim parents when you guys are ready for visitors…when is the baseball weekend you were telling Jim about?
Woohoo! I can’t believe it’s almost time! When are you going to stop working? I agree with KC, take as many walks as you can, that always seemed to help me with cramping and aches and pains. Enjoy these last few weeks, and we can’t wait to meet Reed!
Sarah and I are going to SA March 7th for a wedding. So why don’t you go ahead and squeeze that little boy out a tad early so we can see him ok?
Thanks for all the encouragement guys…I need it! Randy and I have a loop in our neighborhood that we walk 4-5 times a week. I think it is probably 1 mile long and its perfect. By the end I start slowing down because my belly starts hurting 🙂
Sarah-baseball weekend is April 24-26. Everyone should try to come to Aggieland for some baseball that weekend!
Jim-my 30th birthday is March 7th…so I really want him to come before then. I’ll talk to him and see what I can arrange. Believe me, I’m ready now!
I AM SO FREAKIN’ EXCITED!!! I can’t believe you’re already 35 weeks! I can’t believe you’re having a baby! I have waited sooooo long to meet Baby Reasonover ;), and now he’s almost here – awoohoo!
Amanda,
Baby Who?? I’m pretty sure I had something to do with this kid.
