Reed’s 2nd Birthday

Cars!!

Reed is in love with anything that moves. Cars, trucks, tractors, trains, planes… and BIG trucks. So, it was a no-brainer when we thought of that for 2nd birthday theme. Julie wanted to make the cake again, which she did such an awesome job on last year.

The only think we needed was some entertainment for few toddlers. Last year it was bubbles, which would have been just a as fun this year, but it doesn’t have much in common with cars. How about building a race track? I give Julie credit for the idea, and it was no-brainer as well. I built a straight track that took me back to the “Pinewood Derby” days in Cub Scouts. I think it was just as fun for me to build and play with as it was for Reed!

We were very fortunate to have a special guest in town for Reed’s birthday as well. Jim and Sarah Pike made the trip with their red-haired daughter, Kate, and 6-week old boy, John. Reed and Kate have been buddies since before they can both remember, and it’s really fun to see them recognize each other now.

We had lots of fun and the track was a hit. Even little Caleb Swayze stepped-out of his shyness to play with the cars on the track.
