Bible in 90 Days

One big reason I haven’t posted much on the blog is because every spare minute that I have had this year has gone to reading the bible.  I know that sounds so pious and fancy, but it isn’t.  Our church is reading the bible in 90 days as a group and it is wonderful to be surrounded by a community reading the good book at the same time. With the invention of Facebook I am constantly motivated to stay on track and not fall behind because someone is always making a comment about what is happening in the ‘story’.  I actually didn’t start reading until the second week of January because I knew this wasn’t a good time in my life to commit to such a huge goal.  In the end I decided I couldn’t pass it up, and I’m so thankful I jumped on board when I did.  I read the bible 5 years ago using a 1 year bible.  This version had daily readings that consisted of  an old testament reading, a new testament, psalm and proverb.  This was ok, but it took me 2 years to read it and I really didn’t get much out of it.  I like the approach we are taking now where you read it cover to cover in 12 pages a day.  It takes about an hour a day which is a lot when that is about the only free time I have on a daily basis.  Like I say, it hasn’t been easy, but I am a rule follower and I like structure.  This has been the perfect structure for me.

I haven’t posted anything on Facebook about the daily readings or the project, but I am doing it everyday.  Most of the time I use my lunchbreak to read my bible reading and I have come to really love that quiet time.  I fear that I’m going to be sad once I’m done.
