Spreading the news

This weekend we were in Houston to throw a baby shower for our friends Sam & Jessica.  On Sunday we decided to have all our friends over to the Pike’s house for some lunch and time for the kids to play.  We were staying with the Pikes’ (Sarah is the one that shares my due date) and since we are both 10 weeks we decided it would be fun to tell all of our friends together.  Reed and Kate put on their Big Brother and Big Sister t-shirts and we waited to see who would figure it out first.  No great surprise…the moment Christine walked in the door she noticed.  I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spread the news!  Thanks for such a fun weekend!!

Sonograms

Quick little update.  Just had another OB appt and she did yet another sonogram.  I am feeling SO lucky to have this wonderful doctor.  With Reed I only had 3 sonograms total.  I’m still in first trimester and have already had 3.  I already feel closer to Little Spice than I ever did when Reed was still an ‘inside baby’.

Two babies, but not twins

Now that you all know about Little Spice, there is even more exciting news…my good friend Sarah is having her second baby too…and we have the same due date!  How fun is that?

I had my second visit with Dr. Vanover on Wednesday.  We did another sonogram and this time we could definitely see Little Spice.  For some reason I had this thought that I was having twins.  After today I know FOR SURE that we aren’t having twins.  I would have loved twins (truly), but I don’t think I could afford the day care costs!

Little Spice

I had my first appt with my new OB today.  The doctor who delivered Reed saved his little life, but I was so miserable going to his office every month that I knew I wanted to change doctors.  Dr. Vanover is a fantastic doctor and she just moved her practice to North Central Baptist, which is about 5 minutes from my office.  Perfect location for monthly visits!

The funny thing is that I had scheduled an appt with Dr. Vanover for June 5th long before I found out about Little Spice (no idea why I call baby that, it just popped out of my mouth one day).  I wanted to start seeing the new doctor before I got pregnant, but that didn’t really happen.

After my today’s visit I know I made the right choice.  She is very laid back about pregnancy like I am.  She doesn’t stress about every little thing and encourages her patients to do the same.  We did a sonogram today but truly couldn’t see anything because baby is SO young (barely 4 weeks).  By my calculations my due date is January 19th, but the sonogram says January 23rd.

Pregnant Again!

April was a big month in the Baldwin household.  We bought and moved into our new house (that we love); we sold our first home; we inherited 10 golden retriever puppies and their mom; I lost 20 pounds (yes, in the month of April) and I got pregnant!!!  You read that sentence correctly…Reed is going to be a big brother in January!!!  We found out on May 12th that I was pregnant and I kind of knew I was, but it was still a surprise.  We tried for so long with Reed that I was pleasantly surprised that we were able to get pregnant without really trying.  SO exciting!!
