Finally!!
Yesterday was Beverly’s birthday, and the day we’ve had earmarked to tell my family. It was a guarantee that we would have a captive audience and that only the immediate family would be there. We had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory (and after The Melting Pot last night with Jeff and Patty, we swore to not eat-out for the rest of the year… we were still stuffed).
I toyed with a few options on how to break the news, which included writing it inside Beverly’s birthday card and have her say it out loud when she read it. No jumbotrons or fly-over banners were available. I opted, instead, to just announced it (old-school style) after Beverly had finished opening her cards and gifts from the family. We were very aware of allowing Beverly to still have “her day” and not take too much of her spotlight before she had ample time to bask in it.
Needless to say they were all very excited once I dropped the news. “Giddy” would be the best word to describe Mom… and we knew she would be.
The family is sworn to secrecy until mid-August or so. We have the next doctor’s visit on August 1st, where they will do the first sonogram.

And I chuckle @ my giddiness response, when I recall your announcement the other day:-) This is the first blog I’ve ever interacted with–gosh, the tears that welled within me, of your heartfelt thoughts of this past year & a half, & that you can bind it all for the baby’s book, will be so memorable. I had a baby book for each of you–for each of you is so-o-o special.
Julie, I’m going to make you a copy of of a prayer that Grandma gave to me, that she’s been praying daily, for me & my siblings for years, & I the same for our kids, & you when you can on board. It’s entitled: “A Mother’s Prayer to Guardian Angels” When you read it, you will realize that you were the perfect match for Randy:-)
